Consumer Disputes

Deficiency of service and unfair trade practice claims across the District, State and National Commissions.

The Consumer Protection Act 2019 widened both who may complain and where. E-commerce transactions are covered, product liability is a distinct cause of action, and a complaint may now be filed where the complainant resides rather than where the opposite party carries on business.

We act for complainants in deficiency of service and unfair trade practice claims across the District, State and National Commissions, and for service providers and manufacturers defending them. Matters run from insurance repudiation and banking service failures to defective goods and professional negligence.

These proceedings are summary, which is an advantage where the documents tell the whole story and a disadvantage where they do not. Where a claim genuinely needs evidence and cross-examination, we say so at the outset rather than watch it fail on that ground.
